As an engaged chamber musician Raphael regularly performs in various formations. Alongside his activities as cellist of the Goldmund Quartet, he is a frequent guest at chamber music festivals and concert series. He regularly plays in duo or piano trio formation with pianist Verena Metzger and violinist Philipp Wollheim.
Further chamber music projects have brought him together with Christopher Park, Frank Dupree, Pablo Barragan, Stephan Fehlandt, Peter Buck, Claudio Bohorquez, Wolfgang-Emanuel Schmidt, Ksenia Sidorova, Christoph Poppen und Arabella Steinbacher.
Early on in his life string quartet was an important part of his musical training and during the last years of high school the Goldmund Quartet, „one of the most promising young musicians in Germany“ (Harald Eggebrecht, Süddeutsche Zeitung) was founded. Since then quartet has been the main focus of his artistic activity.
Since December 2015 the Goldmund Quartet is being presented by the prestigious artist management HarrisonParrott.
Inspired by the cooperation with the TONALi competition, Raphael founded a school project in order to reach a new generation of classical music audience in the southern parts of Germany. Together with pianist Verena Metzger and various musician friends, he gives children an exciting insight into the world of classical music by playing moderated concerts in their schools..
A small contribution to inspire a young generation for classical music and help create a future audience.
